Babrius and Phaedrus Fables

I was quite disappointed when I read the version of Aesop’s Fables in my book collection. It contained tales well past the time of Ancient Greek. When I expressed this frustration, a kind soul suggested I check out this collection to get the original fables. Let's see how these compare to the Barnes & Noble version I read earlier this year.

Aesop didn't write down his fables. They were collected and embellished by others, including these two:

Babrius (Greek) Phaedrus (Roman)

This Loeb edition was very helpful in providing 100 pages of introduction in how Aesop's fables have made their way to us.

It also contained some more ribald fables not found in the sanitized Barnes & Noble copy.
